Which method is best?
We offer 4 different methods: LA Weave, Bonds, Mini Tips and Ultra Tips and they are all great in different ways! All clients will be booked in for a free, no obligation consultation where we can chat about the different methods and work out which methods suit your hair, styling, budget and lifestyle.
Do they damage your hair?
Not at all! We have years of experience and have been trained by some of the best extension technicians in the country. As long as extensions are fitted properly, aftercare is followed and you come back for a professional removal, there will be no damage to your natural hair.
We have had clients who have worn extensions with us for many years without breaks and they are testament to our safe fittings, aftercare and removal. You will be sent full aftercare advice and we are always on hand to answer any queries you may have.
How long do they last for and can they be re-used?
This depends on the range and the method. Our premium Indian hair has been known to last over 12 months, and our luxury Russian hair has been known to last for 18 months.
Can I wear my hair up?
Yes, with all of the methods we offer, you can tie your hair up. We will speak to you at consultation about how you prefer to wear your hair, as well as any jobs/hobbies you may have which could affect our recommendation (lifeguard, horse riding, jobs which require hats/hairnets etc).
Is the hair real?
Yes! All the hair that we fit at The Oraculum is 100% human, Remy hair. It is cuticle correct which means that all hairs are collected and kept in the right direction which prolongs the lifespan and prevents tangling.
Can they be heat styled?
Yes, as the hair is 100% human hair, you can use straighteners, tongs, wands, hairdryers etc. Please be sure to use heat protection spray as you would your own hair, to keep your extensions in great condition.
Can I wash them like normal and how often do they need to be washed?
Washing extensions is slightly different to how you wash your natural hair. You cannot ‘scrub’ up your hair at the roots as this can cause matting, the hair should be gently washed in a downward motion. Conditioner should only be used from the mid lengths to the ends as it can cause the extensions to slip. You must wash your hair with sulphate free shampoo and conditioner as this will protect the fittings, as well as protecting the colour.
It is recommended that you only wash your hair twice a week with extensions, a little dry shampoo can be used to freshen your top section up between washes.
Can the extensions be coloured?
Hair extensions are coloured in a completely different way to how we colour our own hair, they are processed in a way which helps them to keep their colour permanently. This means that they will not lift like our own hair and so should not be bleached/lifted as this could cause permanent damage.
We do often custom colour extensions to achieve bright/fashion colours using blonde extensions. Blonde extensions tend to drink up any colour you add to them, meaning that they could look a lot brighter than the same colour on your natural hair. This is the same for silver shampoo, so please keep an eye on the extension hair as it will absorb the colour very quickly!
Any colouring of the extension hair is done at your own risk and should be done by us in the salon, as we specialise in colouring extensions.
Can I go on holiday wearing extensions?
We understand that you want to look your best on holiday! Hot temperatures, suntan lotion, the sea and the pool can all take their toll on even the natural hair, so they can shorten the lifespan of your extensions.
There is specific holiday aftercare advice which we recommend if you do plan on going on holiday whilst wearing your extensions so please let us know and we can help you to get the best from them, as well as supplying products which can help while you're away.
Can I bring my own hair/will you remove the hair I have had fitted by another extensionist?
No. We have spent years researching and testing different brands of extensions to make sure we offer our clients some of the best quality hair on the market. We take pride in the hair that we fit and will not fit any hair that we are not 100% happy with.
As for removals, we would always suggest to have them removed by the extensionist who originally fitted them. Some extensions require specific removal solutions/tools which they should have. Also for insurance purposes, we will not remove or alter another extensionist’s work.
How is each method fitted?
Please take a look at our 'Hair Extensions' page which will list all of our methods and prices, along with an explanation of how each method is fitted. We can also show you samples of the different methods at consultation.
We hope this has helped to answer any questions you may have! If there's anything we've missed, please get in touch and we'll be happy to answer any questions you might have x
